Female Portraits — Elegance, Mystery and Colour
I am drawn to faces that retain their secrets, to gestures that suggest a story, to gazes that seem to elude us. In my female portraits, I seek less to capture a likeness than to evoke a presence, a silhouette, a moment suspended between reality and imagination.
Colour plays an essential role. Vivid pinks, turquoise, deep blues and flashes of light animate often dark palettes, creating contrasts in which elegance, sensuality and strangeness meet. Colour does more than describe the subject: it gives the portrait its atmosphere, rhythm and personality.
These portraits offer another way of inhabiting painting: more luminous, more liberated, sometimes more playful, yet always attentive to what lies beneath appearances. An invitation to look differently, to be captivated by a colour, a gesture, a presence — and to accept that a face always retains a part of the unknown.
